Alcoutim was an old parish in the municipality of Albufeira, in the district of Faro, corresponding to the village that served as the headquarters of the former administrative territory.
In 2011, the locality registered 921 inhabitants and an area of 131.52 km², data that help to frame the territorial and demographic dimension of the former territory.
It was a patron saint of São Salvador. The area indicated in the heraldic base is 129.6 km². The coat of arms and the flag help to preserve historical memory and local identity.
