Description:
Alqueva was an old parish in the municipality of Portel, in the district of Évora.
In 2011, the locality registered 329 inhabitants and an area of 79.20 km², values that help to frame the dimension of the old territory.
Alqueva corresponded to the village that gave the headquarters to the former administrative territory, still maintaining historical and identity value in the local memory.
It was a patron saint. The area indicated in the heraldic base is 79.2 km². The coat of arms and the flag help to preserve the historical memory and identity associated with this former territory.
