Description:
Caminha is a Portuguese municipality in the district of Viana do Castelo, strongly marked by the border position and the relationship with the Minho River and the Atlantic Ocean. Over time, the municipality has developed a very unique identity, where historical heritage, riverfront and maritime memory intersect clearly.
The historic village, the Foz do Minho and the connection to the Galician border help to define the image of the municipality. The municipal heraldry symbolically accompanies this memory and territorial continuity.
The municipal holiday is celebrated on Monday after Easter Sunday. The area indicated in the heraldic base is 136 km².
