Bordados Custom was born from the connection between tradition, technique and the desire to create personalised pieces with their own identity.

The story began in 2018, when the founder of the brand, coming from a family with a background in manual work — including shoemakers, upholsterers and seamstresses — started exploring the world of embroidery while at college. Sewing was already part of his family history, but it was during this period that the need arose to create patches, embroidered clothing and personalised pieces for academic projects, friends and close groups.

With a domestic embroidery machine available, the first experiments began. At that time, there was no structured company, nor any clear idea of turning the project into a business. There was only curiosity, a desire to learn and the need to solve a real problem: creating high-quality embroidered pieces.

One of the biggest challenges quickly became clear: the lack of information on how to create designs for embroidery machines. Although dedicated software already existed, there was little information available online, few practical examples and very limited sharing about the technical process behind embroidery design. It was necessary to learn independently, through trial and error, testing, adjustments and a great deal of practice.

Between 2018 and 2019, this knowledge began to gain value. What initially started as a hobby, for personal use and for friends, evolved into the creation of custom embroidery designs. At the time, in Portugal, there were few people offering this service, and it was often associated with high prices or results below the desired quality.

It was at this point that Bordados Custom began to stand out.

From the beginning, the brand understood that the quality of embroidery begins long before the piece enters the machine. It starts with the design, the embroidery file and the way each stitch is planned and prepared. A good embroidery file makes all the difference in the final result: it improves the finish, increases durability and ensures a more professional appearance.

During the pandemic, the lockdown period created an opportunity to apply all the knowledge accumulated over the previous years. Bordados Custom then began producing and selling embroidered patches, marking a new phase in the project.

Over time, the brand grew. Embroidered clothing, caps, uniforms, printing and heat-press work, as well as other personalised items, were added to the range of patches. The evolution also extended to the equipment: from a domestic machine, Bordados Custom moved on to industrial machines capable of embroidering areas of up to 60 cm by 40 cm.

Today, Bordados Custom has a solid customer base, numerous completed projects, satisfied clients and more than 2,000 distinct designs created.

Although the brand also carries out printing and heat-press work, its origins and expertise remain in embroidery. Embroidery is the company’s technical foundation, accumulated experience and key differentiator.

Bordados Custom works mainly with motorcycle clubs, companies and private clients, developing customised solutions for different needs: patches, personalised clothing, caps, uniforms, promotional items and custom projects.
